What opens on 9 November

The 2026 UK Bebras Challenge runs from 9 to 20 November. Registration is already open, so schools that have not yet joined should use the official UK Bebras route rather than waiting for the challenge window to begin.

This is a UK-wide activity organised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. It is not a coding exam and does not require prior computing experience.

Who can take part

The challenge is open to young people aged 6 to 19. Each participant receives 45 minutes to complete interactive, age-appropriate computational-thinking tasks online under teacher supervision.

Pupils cannot register individually. A teacher signs up as the school coordinator and enrols groups or the whole school. Home-educated pupils have a separate registration route on the official site.

Equipment, practice and certificates

The tasks work on internet-connected desktop computers, laptops or tablets. The organisers note that phones may be technically usable but the smaller screen can be limiting.

Past challenges are available for practice without a login. Every participant receives a certificate, with additional school and national performance certificates available according to the published scoring arrangements.

What schools should confirm now

Before the window starts, coordinators should confirm enrolment, devices, browsers, supervision and the 45-minute timetable. Families should check with the school rather than creating an individual pupil account. Participation is free.
