A UNESCO report published in 2024 projected that 44 million additional primary and secondary teachers would be needed by 2030 to achieve universal education at these levels.
A global projection, not a local announcement
The figure brings together different needs across education systems. It does not mean every school faces the same situation. The report discusses recruitment, training, working conditions and retaining teachers.
What families can check locally
If lessons at your school are affected, ask the school leadership which subjects are involved, what arrangements are planned and where updates will be published.
Keep international evidence separate from local school notices. A report can explain the wider challenge, but it cannot tell you what will happen in a particular classroom.
